Drive the A82 slowly

The road from Rannoch Moor into Glencoe is one of the greatest driving stretches in Europe. Start early. Stop at every lay-by. The Three Sisters viewpoint is unmissable, but the true showstopper - Buachaille Etive Mòr - appears as you crest into the glen from the south.

A darker note

In February 1692 the MacDonalds of Glencoe were massacred here under Government orders. The National Trust visitor centre tells the story with unusual restraint. Worth the two hours.
