How to actually see Skye
Skye rewards patience. The Storr, the Quiraing, Neist Point, the Fairy Pools - you cannot rush any of them. From Mardon, we recommend two nights minimum: drive across on morning one via Eilean Donan (a stop, not a detour), overnight in Portree or Sligachan, and drive back on morning three.
The five walks everyone should do
- Old Man of Storr (1.5 hr) - go before 8am.
- Quiraing loop (3 hr) - the most photographed ridge in Scotland.
- Fairy Pools (1 hr) - clear, cold, worth the crowds.
- Neist Point (1 hr return) - the westernmost point, and the best sunset.
- Coral Beach at Claigan (1 hr return) - soft-white shell sand.

- Can we do it in a day from Mardon?
- Six hours of driving for four hours on the island. We do not recommend it.

- Portree for a town, Sligachan for a mountain view, Elgol for the wild edge.
