Crew & Workforce

Workforce accommodation near Inverness, a crew at a time.

Housing a crew near Inverness usually means booking several hotel rooms, splitting people across different properties, or putting everyone in a shared house. None of those are good for a team that works together, starts early and needs to be in one place.

Mardon takes up to eight across two self-contained units on the same gated site, with parking that handles work vehicles and kitchens in both.

What does workforce accommodation near Inverness usually involve?

Housing a team for the length of a job rather than a night or two. The practical requirements are consistent: secure vehicle parking, somewhere to cook, laundry, flexible arrival times and a single invoice the employer can process.

Inverness draws project workforces for construction, energy, infrastructure and healthcare, and the accommodation market is not really built for them. Hotels are priced for tourists and business travellers on short trips. Holiday cottages are priced and positioned for holidays.

What a crew needs sits between the two: whole units, longer bookings, and someone who will answer a question about invoicing without treating it as unusual.

One practical benefit of keeping a team on one site: everybody leaves at the same time. Splitting a crew across three hotels in different parts of the city creates a daily logistics problem that nobody costs into the booking.

How does the two-unit setup work for a team?

The Main House takes up to five and the Annex up to three, booked as two separate reservations on the same dates. Each has its own entrance, kitchen and bathroom, so the crew shares a site rather than a bathroom.

Two bathrooms across eight people is the number that actually matters at 6am. It is also the main thing a shared contractor house tends to get wrong.

Because the units are separate, you can also split a crew sensibly: a supervisor in the Annex, the rest in the Main House, or two trades kept apart if that suits how the job runs. That is your call, not ours.

Both units need to be free for the full eight, so give as much notice as the job allows. The full breakdown of how the two-unit booking works is on the group accommodation page.

How are workforce bookings paid for?

By bank transfer before arrival, against an invoice issued to the employer or agency. Send the dates, headcount and a PO reference if your finance system needs one, and the paperwork is handled at the quote stage rather than afterwards.

The recurring problem with platform bookings for workforce stays is that they land on somebody's personal card with no invoice and no purchase-order reference. That turns into an expenses dispute weeks later.

Booking direct avoids it. If your company needs particular wording, a supplier onboarding form completed, or the invoice split by unit, say so in the enquiry and it gets set up correctly the first time.

Each unit carries its own cleaning fee of £140 and a refundable damage deposit of £375. The wider business booking process is covered on the corporate accommodation page.

Is the location right for site work around Inverness?

It suits jobs reached by road, particularly east of the city. The property sits directly on the A96 with its own gated entrance, roughly 15 minutes from Inverness Airport and about 10 minutes from Raigmore Hospital and Inverness Campus.

Direct A96 access is the practical advantage. Getting a van out onto the main east-coast route without crossing the city first saves time twice a day, every day of the job.

Supplies are close too. The retail park with a Tesco Extra is under a mile away, which matters when eight people are self-catering.

The honest trade-off is noise. This is a roadside site next to the A96 and a railway line, and some guests notice it. For a working crew that is usually an acceptable exchange for the access; for a quiet holiday it might not be.

Which Mardon unit suits this kind of stay?

The Main House sleeps up to 5 across 2 bedrooms, and the Annex sleeps up to 3 in 1 bedroom. Both are self-contained with their own kitchen, bathroom and entrance, and both can be booked for the same dates.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How many workers can stay at once?

Up to eight across both units: five in the Main House and three in the Annex. Each unit is booked separately and both need to be free on your dates.

Does anyone have to share a bedroom?

Not necessarily. The Main House has two separate bedrooms plus a sofa bed, and the Annex is a separate unit again, so a smaller crew can have a bed each without sharing a room.

Can we park vans overnight?

Yes. Parking is free and behind a gated entrance off the A96, with indoor garage space at the Main House and driveway room for additional vehicles.

Can the company be invoiced with a PO number?

Yes. Send dates, headcount and your PO reference and an invoice comes back with the quote. Payment is by bank transfer before arrival.

Do you handle rotating crews on the same booking?

Tell us the rotation pattern when you enquire. A continuous block with changing occupants is usually simpler to price and manage than a series of separate short bookings.

What about early starts and shift work?

Both units are self-catering, so meals do not depend on a kitchen opening time. Quiet hours run from midnight to 7am, and later check-ins are normal.

Send the dates, the headcount and the PO reference.

Tell us the crew size and how long the job runs, and you get a quote and an invoice covering the whole block. Mardon Holiday Home is a licensed short-term let, licence D, HI-50270-F.
